Lost art of Signalling

This is a great little site for "translating" english into semaphore characters. We don't do signalling in the BB to the extent that I did as a boy, but for fun, (and to remember Trafalgar) it's good for an odd week.

If you are 'on line' at your HQ try this Morse Translator, if the Boys' don't have fun with it you will.

Fun with words - Junior and Company

Good fill in. I use the rebus puzzles as a group work.  Give the Boys just 2 minutes between them to solve as many as possible. Keeps them safely out of the way whilst getting equipment ready. Only used the rebus puzzles from this site.

Ball Games - All Sections

Five pin soccer is a good one for two teams.  Some others can be adapted.

Anchors/ Younger Juniors - Things to make

Some good ideas. Some need lot of preparation for all to do.

All sections - paper cup

We use this a lot, particularly juniors. Get the Boys to do a simple craft work and use it.  Makes them appreciate a drink more when they have to work for it.

Anchors and Junior. Christian Education

A bit glitzy from USA. But we did the parables as a series and this gave a good starting point.  Wouldn't use it in its present form.

Junior educational

I avoid 'school' as much as possible, but this UK teachers site does have one or two useable BB ideas.  On the timefillers site the Rebus puzzles are good for Juniors also used "What's the object".

Junior and Anchor Christian Education

Dovecot Sunday School in Liverpool.  Nice site.  Used all the 'short talks', and nice results using the Sword Drills, mind you had a sweet as a prize for first correct answer each time.

Talks to children. All Sections

From the Church of Scotland, I think the most comprehensive, and advertisement free site dedicated to children's talks.  Some are old hat, but others are really original, "In the Box" I found to be really successful.

Things on paper. Puzzles. All Sections

This is a good site for creating your own puzzles.  Word Searches etc.

Make for Anchors and Juniors

Great Site. Helicopter and blimp OK for Anchors. Boys needed help to fold well, but enthusiastic when their creations flew.

Junior/Company Section KNOTS

A really first class site, Photo Knots. Prints off well in Black and White. The Boys can follow the pictures. Worth laminating them. One of my favourites.

or try this site, listing links. Some of the sites are animated but not a lot of good in the Church Hall.
